To use the Goal Seek function in Excel:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s run through that with a simple example.<\/p>\n

I want to bring in 130 new customers. But I don’t know how many visits I’ll need to reach my goal.<\/p>\n

Before doing the Goal Seek analysis, I organize my data to find the average MoM visit-to-customer percentage.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Step 1: Select the cell with the output you want to change<\/h3>\n

In this case, I\u2019ll select the customer goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Step 2: Navigate to the \u201cData\u201d tab<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Step 3: Select \u201cWhat-if Analysis\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Step 4: Click \u201cGoal Seek\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Pro Tip:<\/strong> You can also get here with the Goal Seek Excel shortcut. Press Alt + A on your keyboard, followed by key W, then G.<\/p>\n

Step 5: Type the number you want to hit into the \u201cTo value\u201d field<\/h3>\n

My goal is 130 customers, so I\u2019ll type in that number.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Step 6: Select the variable you want to change in the \u201cBy changing cell\u201d box<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m changing Projected Visits so I\u2019ll place the cursor in the \u201cBy changing cell\u201d box, then scroll down to select the corresponding cell.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Step 7: Click \u201cOK\u201d to see the Goal Seek analysis<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Voila! I find that to get 130 customers, I need to attract 5000 visits.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
